Discover More

Our itineraries in Lonavala can be quite unconventional. We concluded on over 20 unnamed locations from our recce that continued for over 3 months in this region covering 300 kms. We located unnamed picturesque hotspots on this land of country's oldest rock formations. Ride over grasslands for valley views overlooking the sunset or go for satellite spotting experience on our handpicked low-light locations.

Move in Style

While the world will move to Tiger Point and Bhushi Dam, we'll go for forest expeditions at Shingroba. Cars can't go there and walking is not a practical option. Meet birds, spot fishes, ant nestings, and experience what silence really means. Our trails will take you straight down those gravel paths where you ride beside the lake. We'll meet the Indian giant squirrel and a bunch of swallow-tail butterflies while adoring this biodiverse region.

Better Options

Many of you who may know Lonavala for its bad traffic state, and cars make it even worse, so hop on Strode to beat the traffic and go zip-zap-zop on full throttle. Exert yourself or glide on low gears on our dam trails of Tungarli and Valvan early on.

OUR PERSPECTIVE ON

lonavala

BIRTHPLACE OF CHIKKI

Having been a resting place since ancient times, Lonavala houses five Buddhist caves from the 5th century A.D. in and around its vicinity. Bedse, Kondhane, and Bhaja are some of the names. Karla itself has 16 caves inside, making it an architectural-wonder against the basaltic hills of the Sahyadris.

LAND OF CAVES

The tale dates back to the British Raj when the Empire recruited workers to build a railway line from Bombay to Lonavala. Laying tracks along the Western Ghats was tough and workers needed some extra fuel to keep going. Maganlal Aggarwal made "gud-dani," now known as "Chikki" made from high-calorific-value ingredients: jaggery, ghee, and peanuts to support them.

MYSTIC MONSOONS

As the rains come rushing down the hills, magic unfolds in the Sahyadris, enveloping it in a veil of green and mist. Our tour into the clouds, plunging falls and river spreads across the pastoral countryside landscapes is breathtaking. This region is said to have over 200 waterfalls that are more than 3 feet toll. Kune & Kataldhar are some of the deepest falls.

MARATHA'S TREASURE

From standing up against invaders to keeping an eye on trade movements, the Marathas built a total of 300 forts across the Sahyadris. These forts were built on top of steep pinnacles, rendering the huge armies of the Mughals ineffective with their guerrilla-style war from these fortresses. Lonavala is home to over 15 with each of them known for their unique stories.
